About the CD Rom Home Page: The Géode at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie. Built of reinforced concrete and held up by a central column, the cinema's internal structure is independent from the spherical envelope. Some 36 m in diameter, the sphere itself is a double structure. The first is made of 1,670 metallic triangles, carrying loads and protected by several insulating layers. The second, a ''mirrored skin'', is made of 6,433 polished stainless steel triangles which perfectly finish the spherical surface.
